CMVC Partnership with Western Governors University for Transfer Credits
Nursing is a field with many ways to grow in the career. Compu-Med Vocational Careers (CMVC) offers an associate degree in nursing (ADN). The ADN is an entry-level credential for nurses and provides a great way to enter the field. Now, with a partnership with Western Governors University (WGU), students from CMVC can advance their degrees.
Nursing degree advancement
When CMVC graduates transfer their credits to the WGU nursing program, they can work toward nursing degree advancement. Western Governors University is also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This means that both CMVC and WGU provide high-quality nursing education and training.
Getting a higher degree in nursing opens the door to advancement opportunities in healthcare. Nurses earn an average wage of $36.22 an hour, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Higher degrees in nursing mean that nurses can earn even more.
Additionally, a higher nursing degree gives nurses career advancement opportunities. Skills and competencies from a higher degree often translate to more responsibility as a nurse. Nurses can work their way up to higher positions in the field.
This is why CMVC and WGU created this collaborative agreement. Our goal is to build a nursing workforce that is ready for the future and to meet the demands of the healthcare field. Credits from CMVC transfer into the WGU nursing program.
Scholarship opportunity
CMVC graduates who apply to Western Governors University are also eligible for the WGU Community College Partnership. Students will need to apply for the scholarship once enrolled at WGU.
The scholarship provides a total of $2,500 in funding for tuition. The amount is disbursed in increments of $625 per semester for up to four terms. Scholarship disbursement is based on satisfactory academic performance.
Western Governors University is solely responsible for the funding and award decision of the Community College Partner Scholarship. If a transfer student gets the scholarship, it provides assistance for tuition during the semesters in which the increments are disbursed.
